I have used laundry sheets from The Lab Co. so I was hopeful that these dishwasher tablets would also be good quality. I am really pleased with their performance.Like many people, I had come to realise how bad for our health and the environment traditional, chemical-laden dishwasher tablets are. I was desperate for a solution. I had recently switched to another eco-friendly tablet which has surpassed my expectations and this meant I was able to compare them like for like.Firstly, I really like the packaging. All 40 tablets are packed neatly into a rectangular but slim box made from card. No plastic here. . A drawer-like insert pulls out and you can easily pluck a tablet from within. The pack sits nicely in my drawers with cleaning bits so it’s not taking up much space by being an odd shape or size. Price-wise at £10 it is a surprisingly good price. For the leading brand dishwasher tabs you would expect to pay a lot more for a similar amount and the advantage here is that your clean dishes won’t hold residue that gives you leaky gut and you won’t be throwing chemicals down the drain. The Lab Co does a great job of cleaning all items in the dishwasher. They fully dissolve too – no tablet remnants in the cutlery caddy! What I love about this tablet is the slight scent. It’s called Lime Storm but this really isn’t anything like Lime. It’s perhaps more akin to a lightly floral talcum powder. My husband is a convert too and is slowly starting to realise we need to make these small changes in life so it’s a win win.Very happy to recommend.
I must confess that I was a bit sceptical of these dishwasher tablets. Our normal brand has lots of bobbles and compartments all of contrasting colours and no doubt at various points in the cleaning cycle these are all deployed to clean, to rinse or protect one’s dishes and glassware. How could such a simple and uninspiring tablet compete? Well, it turned out rather well. I didnt get off to a good start as I tried to strip off the cellophane wrapper and this took an age. This isnt necessary as one simply puts the whole tablet, straight from the box, into the dishwasher tablets drawer.Cleaning was super, even on the eco-mode that my bank manager tells me is the only one to keep my bills down. The items came out clean, sparkly with a delightful smell that permeated through the whole load and entire machine. The slim box in which they come is also a bit of a revelation; the 40 tablets are held within and are easily tucked away in the cupboard until they are needed, unlike the great gel bags that the competing brand has. My other point is that rather than lots of chemicals these tablets contain more natural and eco-friendly constituents. What is not to Like? I think every month or so I will drop in one of the old ones just to make sure that something doesnt require the blue red or green compartment or big ball in the centre - otherwise I suspect from now on we will happily stick with these.
I tested these in place of our usual (big plastic bag) "liquid pods" brand of dishwasher tablets. The first thing to comment is: Make sure you open the packet the right way up. I was not paying sufficient attention and managed to start to open it the wrong way! There are far more tablets than you'd expect if you are used to liquid type ones; they are clearly very dense and compact and I was concerned that they would not dissolve fully in our dishwasher.Happily that concern did not come to pass. I would say that they offer very comparable cleaning to the "big brand" that we usually use, and definitely fully dissolved/dissipated in the wash. Why would you choose these? Basically I think it is all about the environmental aspects. Cardboard packaging, smaller mass and volume than an equivalent number of normal tablets. This has the added advantage that rather than the bottom of a kitchen cupboard (for example, under the sink) you can now fit your dishwasher supplies in a corner of a kitchen drawer. Maybe this helps some people with smaller kitchens? In terms of cleaning performance I was unable to easily see any difference with our normal bigger brand type, so I guess that is a win.At this price point, I think they compare extremely favourably to bigger brand tablets. So all in all these seem like a good choice for your dishwasher.
