Toxic Ingredients We Don't Use (But Most Do)

You shouldn’t need a chemistry degree to understand what’s in your laundry detergent or surface spray. But most brands make sure you don’t. That’s not an accident.
They hide behind green labels, vague words like “fragrance,” and ingredient lists written for legal compliance, not human understanding. What they’re really doing is selling you products laced with toxins—because it’s cheaper, easier, and no one’s stopping them.
We’ve spent years developing formulas that don’t mess with your health. We refuse to cut corners. And here's exactly what we don’t use—and why it matters.

1.Phthalates: The Silent Hormone Wreckers
If a product smells “clean,” “fresh,” or “floral” but doesn’t list what’s in the fragrance, it probably contains phthalates.
Phthalates are used to make scents last longer. They’re also known 'endocrine disruptors', meaning they can mess with your hormones—and your kids’. Studies have linked them to lower sperm counts, early puberty, asthma, and developmental issues in children. They absorb through your skin. You breathe them in. They don’t belong in your home.We don’t touch them.

2. 1,4-Dioxane: The Hidden Carcinogen
This one doesn’t even need to be listed on a label. That’s because 1,4-dioxane isn’t added—it's a byproduct of other cheap ingredients, especially sulfates like SLS and SLES. It's classified as a probable human carcinogen. Brands are knowingly using ingredients that create cancer-linked chemicals. Why? Because it makes products foam more. That’s it. We don’t think fake suds are worth the cancer risk.

3. Undescript ‘parfum’
If you see “fragrance” or “parfum” on a label with no breakdown of what’s actually in it, treat it as a red flag. That word can legally hide hundreds of chemicals—including phthalates, allergens, and skin irritants. Companies don’t have to disclose the contents because fragrance is considered a “trade secret.” We create our own fragrance blends using essential oils and natural isolates. You’ll always know what’s in them. No secrets, just radical transparency.

4. Chlorine Bleach: The Lung Burner
Bleach is still everywhere—laundry products, bathroom sprays, toilet cleaners. It’s cheap. It’s powerful. But it’s also corrosive. Breathing in chlorine fumes can irritate the lungs, trigger asthma, and create toxic compounds when mixed with other cleaners (especially anything with ammonia). Chronic exposure? Linked to long-term respiratory damage. It doesn’t belong in your laundry. It definitely doesn’t belong in your kitchen.

5. Parabens: The Shelf-Life Shortcut
Parabens are preservatives designed to prevent mould and bacteria growth. Sounds useful—until you learn that they also mimic estrogen in the body. They’ve been found in breast tissue. They’ve been linked to hormone disruption and potential links to breast cancer. The EU has banned some of the worst offenders. The UK? Still widely allowed. We don’t use parabens. We use safe, biodegradable preservatives that actually break down and don’t build up in your body.

6. Optical Brighteners: The Laundry Lie
These are the chemicals that make your clothes “look” whiter and brighter under UV light. They don’t clean anything. They coat your fabrics in a thin layer of synthetic chemicals designed to trick your eye. They’re skin irritants. They don’t biodegrade. And they stay on your clothes long after washing—which means they stay on you.
We’re not interested in fake brightness. We’re interested in clean.

7. Ammonia: The Eye-Watering Add-On
Ammonia is still found in plenty of multi-surface and glass cleaners. It can cause skin burns, eye damage, and respiratory problems—especially when combined with bleach.
We clean without corrosive chemicals. You shouldn’t need to ventilate your house just because you wiped down a counter.
Why Should You Care?
Because this stuff builds up—in your body, in your air, in the environment. It’s not just a one-off exposure. It's chronic. And the long-term effects aren’t being properly studied, because no one’s regulating how all these chemicals interact with each other when combined.

We’ve Chosen Better. So Can You.
We spent years developing products that actually work without the junk. Every formula we create is free from these toxins. We’re upfront about what’s inside. We tell you what we’ve left out. And we’re not afraid to call out the industry for still using them.
Clean isn’t a scent. It’s the absence of harm.
If your products don’t make that clear—maybe it’s time to switch.
